Neal Stephenson: Cryptonomicon
Finally getting around to this one.
F. Scott Fitzgerald: The Great Gatsby
I hadn't read this since college; perfect beach read.
Michael Pollan: The Omnivore's Dilemma
I have to finish this one before I pick up the next one.
Richard Price: Lush Life
I've never really been into Price, but couldn't pass up this one.
I'm VP & GM of TypePad at Six Apart, the company that's also behind Movable Type, LiveJournal and Vox.
I've been publishing stuff online since 1995, when I launched Stating the Obvious, a then-weekly site of essays on Internet technology, business and culture. It's now suffering from abandonment, but during its heyday it was home to writing from the web's pioneers, including Greg Knauss, Rogers Cadenhead, Alex Massie, Carl Steadman, Rebecca Eisenberg, David Hudson and others. It also played host to 101 Ways to Save Wired and White Noise on White Noise, two projects that were born before everything on the web took on the reverse chronological format.
My career's been a mixture of product development, marketing and professional services. Before joining Six Apart, I product managed market data and transaction download systems at Advent Software, was part of the startup team at GlobalEnglish.com, led engagements at the erstwhile Internet consulting firm Viant, and was part of the management team at email services agency Quris.
My undergrad degree is from Colgate, my graduate degree is from Cal. I live in Berkeley with my wife and our two beautiful girls.
